Human Resources Development (HRD) Program

Summer 2014 HRD Schedule


The Human Resource Development (HRD) Program provides employability skills for unemployed and underemployed adults.  HRD focuses on the development of basic workplace skills by providing skill assessment services, employability skills training and career development counseling.

HRD emphasizes the creation of developmental activities, which allow participants to acquire work-related, and self-sufficiency skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills and develop awareness of the impact of information technology in the workplace.

Classes are held at Sampson Community College in Clinton, at the Employment Security Commission/JobLink Career Center in Clinton, the Harrells Town Hall and Clement Elementary School in Autryville.

Classes offered through HRD

  • Basic Computers for the Workplace
  • Keyboarding Skills for the Workplace
  • Computer Empowerment for the Workplace (Introduction to spreadsheet applications as it relates to employment documents)
  • Clerical Office Skills
  • Medical Office Skills
  • Intro to Health Care Careers (Prerequisite for Continuing Education medical classes)
  • Home Care Companion
  • Career Planning and Assessment
  • WIN Employability Lab (Leading to Career Readiness Certification (CRC)

Who Qualifies?

HRD courses are free to qualified participants.  Those considered as qualified participants are persons who are unemployed, received notification of a pending layoff, or underemployed.  Underemployed individuals are individuals who are working part-time and/ or are eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit. Also qualified are those persons working and earning wages at or below 200 % of the federal poverty guidelines.
