Compensatory Education

COMPENSATORY EDUCATION

The Compensatory Education Program, often referred to as Comp Ed or CED, is designed specifically for adults 18 years of age and older with documented intellectual and development disabilities, or adult individuals with a traumatic brain injury.  These adults may not have attended public schools or had limited attendance, or they may simply need additional educational opportunities after leaving public school.

The Compensatory Education program at SCC focuses on helping class participants become as independent and self-directed as possible.  To be considered for the program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Be able to benefit from instruction.
  • Be able to care for their personal needs at the class location.

Classes are currently offered on the SCC campus, the Roseboro Center at 120 W. Roseboro Street, and the Newton Grove site at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Classes and instructional materials are free to program participants.

For additional information regarding the Compensatory Education Program, contact Peggy Brewer, program coordinator, at 592-7176, ext. 4004, or you may email Mrs. Brewer at pbrewer@sampsoncc.edu.
